A special event at the Shiga Prefectural Ceramic Forest looks into the soil of Shigaraki, which is often referred to as miraculous clay as it contains high levels of certain minerals - specifically feldspar and quartz - which react uniquely when fired. The exhibition will look at Shigaraki ware pieces made in this part of Japan from three different perspectives: pottery made in ancient times, the exchange of Shigaraki ware pieces and techniques with the United States, and a contemporary look at the art form.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 700 yen.

Getting there

The Shiga Prefectural Ceramic Forest is located around 20 minutes on foot from Shigaraki Station, served by the Shigaraki Line.

For those who plan to drive to the venue, take the Shigaraki Interchange from the Shin Meishin Expressway, and it's around an 8 minute drive from there. Free on-site parking is available for up to 250 vehicles.
