Nishikoen Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Sendai. Just a fifteen minute walk from Hirosedori subway station, a stroll up Hirosedori Avenue leads right to Nishikoen Park. Nishikoen Park is not huge but can easily accommodate several hundred visitors. Like cherry blossom areas across Japan, come early in the morning to mark out a spot for your own picnic with friends, coworkers, or lover. Hanami flower viewing parties can enjoy a number of food stalls set up on an edge of the park. With easy access via public transportation, checking out the scene is easy at Nishikoen Park. Cherry blossoms in Sendai usually first bloom between April 10th and mid-April.
