The 360° Yonezawa Open Factory invites visitors to step inside the workshops and studios that define the city’s rich manufacturing culture. This community-based event opens the doors to factories across Yonezawa, offering hands-on experiences with local industries such as textiles, fermentation and brewing, woodwork, and printing.

Running for several years now, the event continues to grow with new participants and programs. Over 30 companies and workshops take part, from historic textile makers to sake breweries and woodworking specialists. Visitors can try their hand at indigo dyeing, paint traditional Nekokeshi dolls, tour sake breweries, or explore the design and printing process. The aim is to connect guests directly with the craftspeople, fostering meaningful exchanges while showcasing the skill and creativity that have shaped the region for generations.
Special features include a wide selection of collaborative programs with local restaurants, a showcase of new products developed through partnerships between Yonezawa weaving companies and design students, and social events where visitors can meet artisans over food and drinks. A one-day circular bus service (1000 JPY for unlimited rides) makes it easy to travel between participating sites, ensuring guests can see more of what the city has to offer.
